Prayer for All Saints - we will be meeting to pray for the church, especially for our mission and our life together during this time of vacancy. Saturday mornings, in the Quiet Garden at 10am, All are welcome. Jackie.

Tea, coffee and home made cakes in church, Saturday 17 March, 10am to 12 noon. Come and support our ‘Big Brew’ in aid of Traidcraft. Fairtrade food for sale.

Lost For Words – We will be having a Lent course in church on the
following evenings: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, March, and a final session on 16th April. At 7.15pm a bread and cheese supper will be served and then proceedings will start at 7.45pm and will end by 9.30pm. Wycombe Homeless Connection - The retiring collection taken last
Sunday to support the work of the Wycombe Homeless Connection raised the magnificent sum of £744.12 to which can be added £111.75 of gift aid making a total of £855.87. This is a wonderful result and the All Saints' team are so very grateful for your generosity towards this very local Christian charity.

PALM SUNDAY - YOUR CHANCE TO STAR We will be including a dramatic version of the Passion within the 9.45am service on Palm Sunday. In
order to do this we need some willing volunteers who are prepared to take on a small role, be a disciple, a passer-by or a tree! Please contact David Knights (07584 529044 or david@knightshouse.org.uk) if you can help. There will be no (or very few) lines to learn and we will hold two rehearsals beforehand on Wednesday 21 March @ 7.30pm and Saturday 31 March @ 3pm in church. Please consider taking an active part to make this retelling effective and memorable.

• A harvest social (now booked for 5 October with the Jazz Swing Band ‘Anything Goes’).
We need people to run them. Some have gifts in baking lovely cakes! Some can offer warm hospitality. Some have organisational gifts, others can get alongside folk, and yet others have up-front skills. We need all of these. So, have a look at the list, and get in touch with one of the Pastoral Team (Hazel, Helen, Jackie, Derek, Alan, Maureen, Nicky Laurence, or Debbie) with your offers. Tuesday lunchtime concerts - this week cello and guitar recital by musicians from the Royal Academy of Music.
Christchurch Flackwell Heath are running a 24/7 Prayer Week and as part of this, they are leading a prayer slot for Wycombe YFC. You are all welcome to come to the meeting and pray with the members of the church and WYFC Team. It is being held on Thursday 23 February 8.00pm. Please let Erica at Wycombe Youth For Christ know if you wish to attend Tel: 01494 522777.
Poverty and Homelessness: on 26 February during our morning worship we will be focussing on poverty and homelessness. There will be a display about the work of Wycombe Homeless Connection and a retiring collection. Please come prepared to support the valuable work they are doing.

This takes the seven ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus from St John’s gospel and encourages us to find God in the present tense, rather than in the past tense. Please sign the list at the back of church indicating your choice of day and time.
Nicky Skipworth invites you to join folks from St James' going to the 2012 Greenbelt Christian Festival (23 to 28 August). With renowned speakers, live music, art and many different forms of worship, Greenbelt celebrates the best and breadth of the Church ancient and modern. Special group ticket prices: Child 0-5 FREE,
5-18 £50, Adult £89, Adult concession (e.g. disabled/pensioner) £68. If three more people book onto the trip, we get an 11th ticket free! Booking deadline: Wednesday 22 February, speak to Nicky for further details.

Please note these in your diaries, calendars and under fridge magnets etc, not only for children and young people, but also for adults who may wish to be 'leaders'. More details will follow. Tuesday lunchtime concerts - this week Rufus Frowde (Organist and Assistant Director of Music at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace).
The next Prayer Guild takes place on Wednesday 15 February, 7.30pm at 17 St Bernard’s Court.
TOWER RESTORATION/RINGAPPEAL: Provisional dates have been set for the start of the work on the tower. The clock must be removed first. The last time the old bells will be rung will be Monday 20 February before the wheels are dismantled on 23 February. The builders will take possession of the tower from 27 February. From that date the area under the tower will be fenced off, and there will be boarding over areas at the back and north of the church. Work on lowering the bells themselves is scheduled to start on 26 March. The west door will not be accessible, nor will the cupboards under the tower. Access to the kitchen and toilet facilities should not be prevented, but there will be times when heavy machinery will be moved about in this area. The work is likely to take about 6 months to complete, during which time there could be large amounts of wood and metal stored in the church. We will clear this as soon as possible. The level of disruption will vary during the summer; please bear with us while this work is in progress. In the meantime, we still need to raise about £50,000. Patricia Newton
Lost For Words - Following on from our Autumn course, where several people commented on seeking confidence in talking about faith, we will be having a Lent course in church on the following evenings: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, March, and a final session on 16th April. This will be a time where we can learn together about sharing faith personally in a non-cringy way! Please sign the sheet at the back of church if you would like to come.
Other opportunities for Lent: Town Centre Churches Together are offering ecumenical Lent groups. They will be using a course by David Adam, The Great I am. This takes the seven ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus from St John’s gospel and encourages us to find God in the present tense, rather than in the past tense. Please sign the list at the back of church indicating your choice of day and time as soon as possible and by 19 February at the latest.
Future Events - Following on from my letter last week, these events are suggested as possible opportunities for fellowship and to bring along those who don't usually come to church:
• Quiz Night around the theme of the Diamond
Jubilee (50’s costumes perhaps??!)
• A ‘Newcomers Welcome’ probably on a Sunday afternoon (including cake!) to help folk new to our church find out more about All Saints
• A harvest social (a Jazz night has been suggested)
We need people to run them. Some have gifts in baking lovely cakes! Some can offer warm hospitality. Some have organisational gifts, others can get alongside folk, and yet others have up-front skills. We need all of these. So, have a look at the list, and get in touch with one of the Pastoral Team (Hazel, Helen, Jackie, Derek, Alan, Maureen, Nicky Laurence, or Debbie) with your offers. We need teams of people to enable these events to happen. Debbie Orriss
Poverty and Homelessness: on 26 February during our morning worship we will be focussing on poverty and homelessness. There will be a display about the work of Wycombe Homeless Connection and a retiring collection. Please come prepared to support the valuable work they are doing.
Lighthouse 2012 - The dates are confirmed as 23 to 27 July. Please note these in your diaries, calendars and under fridge magnets etc, not only for children and young people, but also for adults who may wish to be 'leaders'. More details will follow. In the meantime we all are asked to start collecting items for craft (but please keep them at your homes at present) and to help you a separate list is available with the All Saints News. Sammy Martin is organising a Classical concert in All Saints’ in aid of
Ringappeal on Saturday 11 February, 7.30pm, (Tower bells 7 – 7.30 pm). The programme will include Change Ringing on Handbells, Chiltern Concert Band conducted by Chris I’Anson, Organ recital hosted by Liam Cartwright, Cello – Denise Lewin and Teachers from Wycombe Abbey School playing Sax, Piano and Organ. Tickets priced at £7 (concessions £5) are for sale after Sunday morning Services and from the Bell Ringers, or telephone Josie Martin on 078 55 459 180.

Jane and Peter Nott our link mission partners are at present undertaking a short-term mission placement in Egypt. They have to be out of Israel for a year before they can reapply for their visas. They visited some link parishes last autumn and will be coming to All Saints on 8 July 2012. (See link letter on board at back of church).

With renowned speakers, live music, art and many different forms of worship, Greenbelt celebrates the best and breadth of the Church ancient and modern. If interested, please contact Nicky asap.

A Coach Trip to see a performance of the Lion King is being planned by Joe Arthur in April. More details to follow.
Wycombe Youth for Christ/Helping Hands Project has been supporting the Buckinghamshire Education Business Partnership (BEBP) scheme. The BEBP are seeking ‘business’ mentors to support, encourage and provide some expertise to students working on a challenge (i.e. developing a community project or creating a welcome pack for Year 7 Students). Could you spare just one day in order to mentor a group of young people at a local secondary school? (Further details available on the flier at the back of church).

Jane and Peter Nott our link mission partners are at present undertaking a short-term mission placement in Egypt. They have to be out of Israel for a year before they can reapply for their visas. They visited some link parishes last autumn and will be coming to All Saints on 8 July 2012.

Lost For Words - Following on from our Autumn course, where several people commented on seeking confidence in talking about faith, we will be having a Lent course in church on the following evenings: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, March, and a final session on 16th April. Southwell Minster Trip 19 February Many of us will want to be with David and Cathy at David's Collation in the Southwell Minster on 19 February. A coach will be taking us from outside Easton Street Baptist Church at 1pm that day. A second pick up follows at the Cressex Park and Ride on the way. Four Studies and a Party update - The Pastoral Team have been studying the feedback from the course David and Debbie ran in the autumn. One outcome has come as a result of several comments about seeking increased confidence in talking about our faith. Debbie is going to run a course called 'Lost For Words' during Lent. More details to follow. Other outcomes will unfold in the months to come.

RINGAPPEAL: Back in November, our young ringer, Samantha Martin, rang a quarter peal of Stedman Triples which was sponsored in aid of
Ringappeal. With support from family, friends and many of All Saints'
congregation, Samantha raised £1077.70. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this.
Fairground Organ collection Thank you again to the Organ Sponsors, Bell Ringers, Collectors & Avoiders. Between us we raised a net total of £431.86 for All Saints’, including Gift Aid.
Rope - many thanks to those who contributed to the Rope Parish Christmas Card. A total of £77.91 was donated for this worthy charity.
Christmas Collections & Gift Aid - many thanks to all who gave so
generously to the collections taken on Christmas Eve and Day. A total of £1,123.44 was given in cash collections of which £623.60 was gift aided thereby generating an additional £155.90 of income. Had all the money collected been gift aided then the total tax refund would have been £280.86.

Christmas Outreach 22 December - Churches Together will be running an outreach event under the Guildhall on the High Street from 11am-3pm. We need help with giving out refreshments, singing carols, wrapping presents and face painting. Can you give an hour? It's a way of raising the profile of Jesus at this special time of year. Children's Nativity Play - this year will be in two parts, the main event taking place on Sunday 8 Jan during the 9.45 Eucharist. ALL are welcome to take part. In order to prepare, we will have a rehearsal during our Epiphany Party at 2pm on Tuesday 3 Jan in the Church. Christmas Outreach 22 December - Churches Together will be running an outreach event under the Guildhall on the High Street from 11am-3pm. We need help with giving out refreshments, singing carols, wrapping presents and face painting. Can you give an hour? It's a way of raising the profile of Jesus at this special time of year. Four Studies and a Party update - The Pastoral Team have been studying the feedback from the course David and Debbie ran in the autumn. One outcome has come as a result of several comments about seeking increased confidence in talking about our faith. Debbie is going to run a course called 'Lost For Words' during Lent. More details to follow. Other outcomes will unfold in the months to come.
Children's Nativity Play - this year will be in two parts, the main event taking place on Sunday 8 Jan during the 9.45 Eucharist. ALL are welcome to take part. In order to prepare, we will have a rehearsal during our Epiphany Party at 2pm on Tuesday 3 Jan in the Church. Advent Fayre Jewellery Stall A huge thank you to everyone at All Saints who donated items for sale. Thanks to your generosity and with the help of some Gold Scraps sold for cash, we have so far managed to raise just over £600. With luck, this figure may rise a little more over the next week or two. The Door newspaper is a valuable resource to churches in the Oxford Diocese and this is a plea from David for a new distributor to deliver bundles of the newspaper around the Wycombe Deanery churches once a month. The newspapers are delivered to a place of your choice and then are required to be distributed to 18 churches in the Wycombe Deanery. Perhaps there are a small group of people who would be prepared to share the distribution and take this on. The church will be open for this town centre festival. SmAll Saints will be having a Teddy Bears' picnic on 18 November in honour of Children in Need. All welcome, especially if you enjoy honey sandwiches. Kath Dunn is asking the congregation to guess which cake Pudsey will be baking for the picnic. Bring £1 and guess the cake. There's a prize for the winner!

Any pieces of broken gold chain or odd gold earrings etc. can be converted into cash too. This year we would like to branch out into Paperweights as well. Wycombe Homeless Connection – Night shelter is starting from Monday 19 December 2011. Our commitment is from TUESDAY 20 DECEMBER 2011 until Tuesday 27 March 2012. We are asking for single duvet covers, pillows and VOLUNTEERS – for the evening, night and morning shifts to help at Oakley Hall and for people to do the washing. Ringappeal - One of our young bellringers, 12 year old Samantha, has been set a challenge at school to seek sponsorship for an activity in order to raise funds for charity. Samantha has chosen to support RINGAPPEAL by attempting to ring a quarter peal of Stedman Triples prior to evensong on Sunday 30th October. This will involve about 50 minutes of continuous ringing and will be a physical and mental challenge. Please contact Tricia Newton (01844 352926) or see one of the bellringers after the 9.45 service if you would like to sponsor Samantha.
Apple juice there are still some bottles for sale of John and Marjorie White’s bottled apple juice, made from their own home grown apples. The blend is Bramley and Newton Wonder and it produces a real taste of tart, fresh English apples, which will keep for over a year. The cost is £2.50 per bottle and proceeds are going to church funds.
