Prayer for All Saints - we will be meeting to pray for the church, especially for our mission and our life together during this time of vacancy. Saturday mornings, in the Quiet Garden at 10am, beginning on 4 February. All are welcome, please put these dates in your diary and come along if you are able.

Southwell Minster Trip to support David at his Collation in Southwell Minster on 19 February, a coach has been booked and will be taking us from outside Easton Street Baptist Church at 1pm that day. There will be a second pick up at the Cressex Park and Ride on the way. Application forms are available in church for you to complete and return to the parish office. Please let us have your completed form, with your cheque, as soon as possible.

Tuesday lunchtime concerts - this week the Atéa Wind Quintet

Lost For Words - Following on from our Autumn course, where several people commented on seeking confidence in talking about faith, we will be having a Lent course in church on the following evenings: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, March, and a final session on 16th April. This will be a time where we can learn together about sharing faith personally in a non-cringy way! More details to follow.

TOWER RESTORATION/RINGAPPEAL: Provisional dates have been set for the start of the work on the tower. The clock must be removed first. The last time the old bells will be rung will be Monday 20 February before the wheels are dismantled on 23 February. The builders will take possession of the tower from 27 February. From that date the area under the tower will be fenced off, and there will be boarding over areas at the back and north of the church. Work on lowering the bells themselves is scheduled to start on 26 March. The west door will not be accessible, nor will the cupboards under the tower. Access to the kitchen and toilet facilities should not be prevented, but there will be times when heavy machinery will be moved about in this area. The work is likely to take about 6 months to complete, during which time there could be large amounts of wood and metal stored in the church. We will clear this as soon as possible. The level of disruption will vary during the summer; please bear with us while this work is in progress. In the meantime, we still need to raise about £50,000, so please support our concert on 11 February.

Jane and Peter Nott our link mission partners are at present undertaking a short-term mission placement in Egypt. They have to be out of Israel for a year before they can reapply for their visas. They visited some link parishes last autumn and will be coming to All Saints on 8 July 2012. (See link letter on board at back of church).

Nicky Skipworth invites you to join folks from St James' going to the 2012 Greenbelt Christian Festival (23 to 28 August). With renowned speakers, live music, art and many different forms of worship, Greenbelt celebrates the best and breadth of the Church ancient and modern. If interested, please contact Nicky asap.

The One Can Trust – don’t forget that any donations for the One Can Trust can be left in the Wheelie Bin at the back of church.

Please note there will be NO Evensong on 19 February, as many will be at Southwell Minster for David’s collation as Archdeacon of Newark. All Saints Choir has been invited to sing at this service.

Sammy Martin is organising a Classical concert in All Saints’ in aid of Ringappeal on Saturday 11 February, 7.30pm, (Tower bells 7 – 7.30 pm). The programme will include Change Ringing on Handbells, Chiltern Concert Band conducted by Chris I’Anson, Organ recital hosted by Liam Cartwright, Cello – Denise Lewin and Teachers from Wycombe Abbey School playing Sax, Piano and Organ. Tickets priced at £7 (concessions £5) are for sale after Sunday morning Services and from the Bell Ringers, or telephone Josie Martin on 078 55 459 180.

A Coach Trip to see a performance of the Lion King is being planned by Joe Arthur in April. More details to follow.

Wycombe Youth for Christ/Helping Hands Project has been supporting the Buckinghamshire Education Business Partnership (BEBP) scheme. The BEBP are seeking ‘business’ mentors to support, encourage and provide some expertise to students working on a challenge (i.e. developing a community project or creating a welcome pack for Year 7 Students). Could you spare just one day in order to mentor a group of young people at a local secondary school? (Further details available on the flier at the back of church).

Wycliffe Bible Translators are holding their 2012 conference at The Union Baptist Church, High Wycombe on 4 February at 10.30am. Further information is available on the flyer at the back of church.

Southwell Minster Trip 19 February Many of us will want to be with David and Cathy at David's Collation in the Southwell Minster on 19 February. Tuesday lunchtime concerts commence again this week with Musicians from the Royal Academy of Music.

Four Studies and a Party update - The Pastoral Team have been studying the feedback from the course David and Debbie ran in the autumn. One outcome has come as a result of several comments about seeking increased confidence in talking about our faith. Debbie is going to run a course called 'Lost For Words' during Lent. More details to follow. Other outcomes will unfold in the months to come.

If you have not already switched over, now is the time to start thinking about it. Some people will need help with the switchover, and we are trying to make sure that nobody, especially the vulnerable, gets left behind. RINGAPPEAL: Back in November, our young ringer, Samantha Martin, rang a quarter peal of Stedman Triples which was sponsored in aid of
Ringappeal. With support from family, friends and many of All Saints'
congregation, Samantha raised £1077.70. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this.

Fairground Organ collection Thank you again to the Organ Sponsors, Bell Ringers, Collectors & Avoiders. Between us we raised a net total of £431.86 for All Saints’, including Gift Aid.

Rope - many thanks to those who contributed to the Rope Parish Christmas Card. A total of £77.91 was donated for this worthy charity.

Christmas Collections & Gift Aid - many thanks to all who gave so
generously to the collections taken on Christmas Eve and Day. A total of £1,123.44 was given in cash collections of which £623.60 was gift aided thereby generating an additional £155.90 of income. Had all the money collected been gift aided then the total tax refund would have been £280.86.

Christmas Outreach 22 December - Churches Together will be running an outreach event under the Guildhall on the High Street from 11am-3pm. We need help with giving out refreshments, singing carols, wrapping presents and face painting. Can you give an hour? It's a way of raising the profile of Jesus at this special time of year. Contact Debbie debbie.orriss@churcharmy.me.uk 07757171612. We also need donations of mince pies (baked or bought) to give out. Please leave any donations in the kitchen during the week of the Outreach. Many thanks.

Children's Nativity Play - this year will be in two parts, the main event taking place on Sunday 8 Jan during the 9.45 Eucharist. ALL are welcome to take part. In order to prepare, we will have a rehearsal during our Epiphany Party at 2pm on Tuesday 3 Jan in the Church. Advent Fayre Jewellery Stall A huge thank you to everyone at All Saints who donated items for sale. Thanks to your generosity and with the help of some Gold Scraps sold for cash, we have so far managed to raise just over £600. With luck, this figure may rise a little more over the next week or two. The Door newspaper is a valuable resource to churches in the Oxford Diocese and this is a plea from David for a new distributor to deliver bundles of the newspaper around the Wycombe Deanery churches once a month. The newspapers are delivered to a place of your choice and then are required to be distributed to 18 churches in the Wycombe Deanery. Perhaps there are a small group of people who would be prepared to share the distribution and take this on. We can now announce that David and Cathy will be leaving us in the New Year when David goes to take up an appointment as The Archdeacon of Newark in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Some dates for your diary, are 15 January when after the Parish Eucharist there will be a shared lunch and 29 January which is a Civic Service, where David will preside for the final time. David will begin his ministry in the new Diocese after his Collation on Sunday 19 February at 5.30pm.We offer our congratulations and wish them both well.

Ringappeal - One of our young bellringers, 12 year old Samantha, has been set a challenge at school to seek sponsorship for an activity in order to raise funds for charity. Samantha has chosen to support RINGAPPEAL by attempting to ring a quarter peal of Stedman Triples prior to evensong on Sunday 30th October. This will involve about 50 minutes of continuous ringing and will be a physical and mental challenge. Apple juice there are still some bottles for sale of John and Marjorie White’s bottled apple juice, made from their own home grown apples. The blend is Bramley and Newton Wonder and it produces a real taste of tart, fresh English apples, which will keep for over a year. The cost is £2.50 per bottle and proceeds are going to church funds.

Our trip to War Horse last Monday -was enjoyed by all those attending. The main aim on this trip was to give us all a good night out and to get to know each other even better. The story was unusual and gripping where a soldier and his horse lived and fought together through the 1st World War. Leonard Cheshire Disability are looking for volunteers in the High Wycombe area for an exciting project called the Enabling project. The project helps disabled people who receive care at home and are often very isolated. It’s time to take action to prevent binge drinking and other drug-related problems in Buckinghamshire! Hope UK, a national Christian drug

BibleLands, is running an event on Wednesday 12 October. Quiz Tea in aid of Ringappeal This fundraising event will be held on Saturday 3 September in Church at 3pm. I will be walking the 9 miles & climbing the 3 peaks of Whiteleaf Cross, Coombe Hill & Ivinghoe Beacon on Sept 18th in aid of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home who helped me care for my husband Bill in the last few weeks of his life. Fun Charity Fundraiser: Saturday 3 September in Oakley Hall from 10.30 - 3.30 for 'Body & Soul' a charity caring for people affected by HIV and their families. Delicious cakes, drinks and pampering (massages, nail painting, make-overs) and fabulous prizes donated by local businesses. Please bring your family and friends for a fun event to help this very worthy cause.

The trip to Wells Cathedral was enjoyed by all with a guided tour of the Cathedral and leaving everyone to visit the town and market for the rest of the day. We used the funds available after expenses to give a free trip to four from the Night Shelter. With the various events that Myra and I have run over the past year there is always much work to be done in preparation so we could do with help. If you enjoy fund raising through concerts, seaside trips or to Cathedrals and Theatres please talk to us and consider joining with us.

Probably the last opportunity to see the structural damage to tower and the old bells before the restoration work commences. Please meet at the west end of church after the 9.45 service. Children under 14 must be accompanied, and please wear soft, flat shoes.

DEC East African Appeal - There was a tremendous response to this Appeal and over £1000 was given by members of the All Saints' congregation to the retiring collections taken after each of the services last Sunday. Of the overall amount, £916 was gift aided - a record percentage - and this should raise an additional £229 towards the Appeal. I will send the DEC a cheque for £1250 towards the East African Appeal. I am sure that your generosity will be much appreciated by the DEC as it is by the pastoral team and PCC. God Bless you all – Barry Titchen

Churches Together Community BBQ last Saturday Many thanks to those who helped in any way with this event. Despite the appalling weather we were able to go ahead and ‘barbecue’ in the kitchen. Many people, some of whom had never been inside the church before, accepted the invitation to come in out of the rain for a burger or sausage. Without our new facilities we would have been forced to cancel.

Retiring Collection - There will be a retiring collection after all the Sunday Services today in aid of the DEC African Appeal.

We need to dispose of some surplus church chairs which are currently in the container by the end of July. Some of them have woodworm and, therefore, are only suitable for outdoor use. If you could make use of some, please contact Hazel the Verger.

Race for Life Hazel the verger and a group of ladies of varying ages are taking part in the Race for Life on the Rye at 3pm on 24 July to raise money for Cancer Research. If anybody feels able to sponsor Hazel she will be extremely grateful.

There will be no Tuesday Lunchtime concert in All Saints’ this week.

Hymns with Pimms on Saturday 9 July at 3pm – Last chance to buy
tickets and submit your bid! The highest 10 bids received by
Monday 4 July are guaranteed to have their hymns sung on the day. Check out the “bidding war” on the chart at the back of church.
The afternoon tea will cost £5 and tickets will be on sale for the last time on Sunday 3 July.

Plant Stall Saturday 9 July The plant stall will start at 2pm not 3pm. Plants may be brought on the day to church but preferably Friday evening from 6pm for sorting and pricing. Don’t forget to label items please.

Midday Prayer now takes place in All Saints every day, when there is a pause at noon to offer prayers and reflections to God. All are very welcome.

Used Postage Stamps - they may be taken to The South Bucks Hospice shop in White Hart Street where they will be sent to their head office for recycling.

Summer Barbeque This will be in the churchyard on Saturday 16 July from 11-3pm. It's another way for churches in the town to share the love of God in word and action. concert rehearsal there, which is in preparation for a full Baroque

Quiz Tea in aid of Ringappeal Saturday afternoon 3 September. Please put this note in your diaries early as we hope for a fun afternoon. The Quiz will take the form more of a Hunt around Church, getting to know corners and items you may never have seen or read before and there will be a prize for the winner. A theatre trip to see Warhorse Its rare to find a show which is attractive to both adults and children while being one of the biggest theatre success stories in recent years. This play has just picked up a clutch of Tony Awards with more awards to come. We are lucky to have a member of our congregation working at the theatre. Coach Trip to Wells Cathedral, 6th August 2011
The trip will include a group tour of the cathedral and we can enjoy a concert rehearsal there, which is in preparation for a full Baroque Concert on a later date.

Adapted by David Robinson and Richard Hasnip this brand new dramatisation of John Bunyan’s classic work is set in the industrial revolution and promises to bring this remarkable allegorical story to life for a new generation. The Pilgrim’s Progress will be performed at The Elgiva theatre, Chesham on Saturday 2July. For tickets please call 01494 582900.

The next Social Responsibility Coach Trip run by Joe and Myra will take place on Saturday 6 August. We shall be visiting Wells Cathedral (and Simon Rose, former verger of All Saints). As before we shall be taking a few homeless people with us. Any profits will be split between PACT (Parent and Children Together) and the Church Urban Fund. PACT is involved with adoption and fostering, family centres and community services in the Oxford Diocese. The Church Urban Fund project workers help churches in deprived areas of the UK reach out to their local communities in practical ways, and take action where they see a need. SR Committee

'Mayor-Making' 21st May This unique Wycombe tradition is here again (see poster in South Porch), and as part of the activities, All Saints will be open for history tours, and we will be serving tea and cakes in the courtyard outside. By the way, we gave out over 150 hot cross buns, chatted and prayed with people and painted many faces at the Easter Outreach! Many thanks for the support on the day and donations received.

Deanery evening as a follow up to the Michael Beasley mission evening in February all are now invited to a further meeting at Christ Church, Flackwell Heath on 16 May at 7.30pm. The evening will contain an insight into the training that was received by Deanery clergy and others at the recent ‘Leading Your Church Into Growth’ conference.

St James Church, Downley is holding a garden party on 21 May, 2 - 4pm. There will be stalls, cream teas, home produce as well as activities for children. All Welcome.

Hymn requests - There is now a clearly labeled box at the back of church into which people can post hymn requests. (request slips are provided).

Water Aid - Following this week’s collection (£60) we have a total of £337.90 to send to Water Aid. Gift Aid declarations amounted to £101.53 which will generate a tax refund of £25.38. Thus, overall, the total contribution from All Saints' should be £363.28.

Coach trip - We are planning to do another trip in August with a different mix of destination and charities to benefit. One idea could be to first visit a Cathedral town in Kent (Rochester or Canterbury) dropping off those who want to spend the day there and going on with the rest to Margate or Ramsgate. Those at the Cathedral would then be picked up on the way home. A second idea is to spend the whole day at a seaside town possibly Margate, Bournemouth or Weymouth We will be carrying some more homeless with us and looking for another two small charities to benefit. Please forward your ideas to help us. You can email them to bardgate@yahoo.co.uk

Bury St Edmunds Coach Trip Saturday 16 April
We had a relaxed day in Bury St Edmunds with a guided tour of the Cathedral in the morning and the afternoon free to visit the town and its huge market.
Travellers came from different church congregations around Bucks and after expenses we raised £251-50 to be divided between Mission Aviation Fellowship and Work Aid. Those two charities provide help and support to impoverished villages across the World.We also made four free seats available to the Night Shelter in order to give a few of our homeless community a break. Easter Morning: there will be a light breakfast in church following the 5.30am Dawn Eucharist. All are welcome. To help those catering, please sign the list at the back of church.

Volunteers Required on Friday, 15 April 2011 from 1100 onwards - we seek help from members of the congregation who have a car and can spare an hour or so to take rubbish from the container outside church to the local rubbish tip. We have a large amount of timber and many items that are no longer required and we must clear the container before work on the Bell Tower can begin. Please help if you can.

Creative Prayer Space - On Sunday 17 April, from 12.30pm - 4pm, the upstairs of Oakley Hall will be transformed into a sacred space. People of all ages are welcome to drop in and out and experience a new and creative way of engaging with prayer.

Walking with Jesus - Easter workshop for children and adults of all Ages - Tuesday 19 April, in All Saints, 2- 3.30pm. Worship, activities and Easter crafts. A chance to Learn together about the real Easter story. Refreshments provided. Volunteers needed, particularly with set up/tidy up and serving tea and hot cross buns. Saints Alive! The next edition of the parish magazine will be the final one. This decision has been taken after much prayer and reflection. Increasingly, we are finding more ways to communicate and it is felt best we put our energies elsewhere. In particular the PCC would like to thank all those who most recently have helped to make the magazine happen.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the ‘Big Brew’ last weekend. We made £103.92 for Traidcraft and £121.75 worth of FairTrade Goods were sold. Wycombe Islamic Mission is organising a procession to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) today. The procession will start at 11.45am from Jubilee Rd mosque and will reach the High Street just after 12.00. All are warmly invited to join them at any stage.

Midday Prayer now takes place in All Saints every day, when there is a pause at noon to offer prayers and reflections to God. All are very welcome.

Kitchen Crockery and Cutlery Initially, we have purchased 150 basic place settings from Sainsbury's who have kindly given us a special discount price. Nevertheless, the total cost is around £800 and we still have to purchase some additional cooking utensils. While the funding for this will come from the Re-ordering Appeal the call on those funds is increasing as the costs associated with the new facilities and heating have been higher than originally expected. If you would like to make a contribution towards these essential items, please use a Gift Aid Envelope and mark it 'Re-ordering Appeal'.

Disappearing Debs - Our thanks to Debbie, and all those of you who sponsored her slim, for raising £923.50 towards the Re-ordering Appeal. welcome.

Good News - our work with children is continuing to grow! In response to a real need to provide nurture and fellowship for children aged eight and above and following on from last years very successful First Holy
Communion programme, I am in the process of starting a new group that will meet approx. once a month on Sunday afternoons, 3 - 4.30pm.
There will be a chance for children to relax together and have fun, whilst exploring their faith. Your support is needed to make this happen. We need people who could help to run activities (craft/cooking/games-including Wii, Playstation etc) and also to help with setting up and doing refreshments etc. Do you think this could be you? CRB checks will be made and training given where necessary. Prayer and financial help would be welcome too. We have plenty of enthusiastic young people who want to take part -let's make this happen for them. See Cathy or email cathypicken@live.co.uk

Wycombe Homeless Connection Drop-In While the Night Shelter is running (Jan-March) we are hoping to run a drop-in in the Oakley Hall on Sunday evenings. Volunteers are needed for this to happen. Audit of School Fund Charity Accounts – The High Wycombe C of E School is looking for someone who has the qualifications to audit their end of year accounts for their School Fund which is run as a Charity. Congratulations to David on his appointment as an Honorary Canon of Oxford Cathedral. He will be installed in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, at 6 pm on 22nd January 2011. Hopefully by then we shall have got all necessary plates and cutlery, but please bring a dish or two of food and a bottle to share!

Access to Oakley Hall Car Park An experimental traffic order will come into force on 24 January which (inter alia) will ban right turns off Amersham Hill into Castle Street. Accordingly traffic coming down Amersham Hill will have to go right round the town to get to the Oakley Hall car park unless you turn right at the junction of Amersham Hill with Priory Road. This order is experimental whilst work on the station forecourt continues, but it could be made permanent.

Wycombe Homeless Connection Drop-In While the Night Shelter is running (Jan-March) we are hoping to run a drop-in in the Oakley Hall on Sunday evenings. Volunteers are needed for this to happen. worship in the Quiet Garden beginning at 7.30 - modern songs and time of prayer. All welcome.

Congratulations to David on his appointment as an Honorary Canon of Oxford Cathedral. He will be installed in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, at 6 pm on 22nd January 2011, and those who wish to may attend. There will be a shared lunch at the back of church to celebrate on Sunday 23rd January starting at 12 noon. Hopefully by then we shall have got all necessary plates and cutlery, but please bring a dish or two of food and a bottle to share!

A Trip to Narnia - would anybody like to join us on Tuesday 21 December (1.45pm approx) to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the latest Disney interpretation of the CS Lewis classic. Children would need to be accompanied by a carer but I'm sure it would not be difficult to find responsible adult friends if parents are at work. the film is in 3D, so bring or own glasses if you can. Shoppers' Lunches On Saturday, 18 December - same day that we have the Fair Ground Organ and small Clairabella Craft Market - the church is going to sell Coffees/Teas etc, hot soup and rolls to shoppers between 11 am and 2 pm to raise funds for the Reordering Appeal. We need volunteers to help make small cakes, prepare the soup and helpers on the day. The cost of materials can be refunded. Please do help and contact Helen Cousins via the church office or 01494-439477.

Helpers needed - Ark is now desperate to find able bodied people who would be willing to help us set up in the Oakley Hall on a Sunday morning. No teaching or working with children is involved. Work involves setting up furniture between 9.15 and 9.35, well before the service starts. We also need help with clearing away! This is not really suitable for those who have small children with them. Without this help we simply will not be able to function. Could you offer even once a month? Please speak to Cathy urgently.

Lord teach us to pray The last meeting will be on 30 November in All Saints’, 7.30pm to 9.00pm. It will be an opportunity for adults to hear and participate in a Godly Play story. We will be exploring 'The Mystery of Advent', a wonderful opportunity to stop and reflect as we prepare for Christmas. Advent Fayre – 27 November in All Saints’

Cake Bakers - There will be a cake stall at the Advent Fayre so your contributions would be very welcome -and necessary - to ensure we are successful and I'm hoping we can rely on your usual generosity. There will be someone in Church between 10 and 6 on Friday, 26 November to take delivery of cakes, or from 8.30 on Saturday. Don't forget to label the cakes if they contain nuts or have been frozen. Jewellery Stall – Chris and I are running a Jewellery Stall again this year. Unlike previous years we do not have a large amount left in our Loft We desperately need more Jewellery and are hoping that some of you will be able to turn out some really good items. Important Notice the Friends have sold 14 packs of a small Christmas Card but the manufacturers have now informed them the envelopes supplied with the cards are too small! If you were one of the people who bought a pack please return it next Sunday 21 November or after to receive a replacement pack.

Christmas Catalogues - there is a blue folder on one of the tables at the back of church containing a selection of Christmas gift catalogues. Please do have a look before you do your Christmas shopping - there are some worthwhile charities to support and some good gift ideas! Thank you Social Responsibility Committee

Re-Ordering Appeal - To all who have contributed towards funding the new facilities in church and the repairs to the heating system, we send our grateful thanks and appreciation for your generosity and support. The amount raised is now just £6,000 short of the target of £30,000 - a fantastic result and achievement. If you have yet to contribute and wish to do so, Appeal Gift Aid and Donation envelopes are available at the back of the church.

Advent Fayre – 27 November in All Saints’
Cake Bakers - There will be a cake stall at the Advent Fayre so your contributions would be very welcome -and necessary - to ensure we are successful and I'm hoping we can rely on your usual generosity. There will be someone in Church between 10 and 6 on Friday, 26 November to take delivery of cakes, or from 8.30 on Saturday. Don't forget to label the cakes if they contain nuts or have been frozen Joan Streeter
All Saints’ Stall – Time to look at the back of the cupboard for those unwanted items (new only please) and donate them to the Gift stall and just leave them at the back of church when the building work is finished.
Christmas Tree – We would welcome gifts of £1 towards presents for the tree. Liz Massaquoi will collect.
Jewellery Stall – Chris and I are running a Jewellery Stall again this year. Unlike previous years we do not have a large amount left in our Loft We desperately need more Jewellery and are hoping that some of you will be able to turn out some really good items. Hurricane Tomas Appeal – The St Vincent community in High Wycombe have put out an appeal for items to be donated in the aftermath of this very little publicised hurricane. The list of items required is on the table at the back of church and items are to be handed in to the Hilltop Centre, Crest Road, High Wycombe HP11 1UA on 19 or 20 November.

West End Re-Ordering Appeal    If you have not made a donation towards the new facilities, your offering will be most welcome. At present we are still around £8,000 short of our target amount to cover the cost of the
re-ordering and new fan heaters for the church. Appeal donation and gift aid envelopes are available on the table located by the south door.

Will Aid    Have you made a will yet? Will Aid is a way of encouraging
parishioners to write a will leaving a legacy to the Church - as well as
raising funds for nine highly respected charities including Christian Aid, During the month of November participating Solicitors are offering their will-making services for free and in return inviting will makers to give a donation to the Will Aid Charities. Full details of the scheme are available in the Church Office including a list of the participating solicitors with 10 miles of church.
